“Breathing Glass depicts a blue landscape made primarily of various forms of glass. In the space float three blue mosaic figures that were originally standing on their heads. With the camera turned upside down after the photo session, the figures now appear detached from their surroundings, breathing not air, but glass. Breathing Glass emphasizes the frozen aspect of still photography using the material of glass and falling live models stopped in mid-air before hitting the ground. This is an other-worldly landscape, almost science fiction with the deep blue resonance of outer space above and below. The image may recall that little feeling of slippage in the moments before you fall asleep.” – Sandy Skoglund
