The child as subject has had an important and multi-dimensional presence in the history of photography. Photographers have long capitalized on the expressive power of pictures concentrated on childhood. The child is both unusual and particular. Our fascination with children goes beyond their whimsical appearances; we are attracted to their innocence, charm, and fearlessness. Today pictures of children are some of the most collected in fine art photography.
